About Us Supporting Children with learning disabilities

Paragon design is a  business  providing support and tactile communication tools to the SEN/SEMH population.

One of our advisors has worked with the NHS for over 20 years and for the last 10 years in children's mental health services. Supporting Children with learning disabilities and also within core and crisis mental health services.

This has also encompassed work within schools and other partner agencies.

It has become clear that our children and young people are put under immense pressure and often struggle to verbally communicate their needs, leading to high poor attendance at  school rates.

Professional supporting children with learning disabilities

We strongly believe in empowering young people and their families to feel free and safe to communicate their wishes, thoughts and feelings.

We provide tactile tools to help improve confidence, reduce barriers to learning and reduce frustration that can lead to negative behaviours. We fully understand that negative behaviours are communications of distress, and that this distress can be increased when needs are difficult to communicate through verbal language alone.

Our Aims for Supporting Children with learning disabilities

Support communication

Tactile Communication tools are vital for the SEN/SEMH population. They can help ease the burden of expressing their internal thoughts to the outside world and can help build confidence reducing frustration.

For millions of young people across the world, traditional communication can not be guaranteed through speech, so tools to assist this becomes necessity, rather than luxury.

Reduce anxiety

Anxiety with the SEN and SEMH population can be highly prevalent, this can appear as an intense state of fear or worry that can often be reflected in a young persons behaviour.

These behaviours can be seen in the context of withdrawal and negative behaviours.

Our range of products can help to reduce this anxiety by supporting communication but we also have products, such as TIPP and STOP skills keyrings to support a reduction in anxiety that may lead to self-harming behaviours.

Empower

Our products help support young people in naming and understanding their feelings, teaching a wider range of emotional literacy.

This can help build trust in themselves and those around them, increasing autonomy and supporting problem solving, this in turn can help navigate social situations with increased confidence.

When a young person is using self-harm as a coping strategy to manage a difficult situation or feeling, our products can empower them to consider new behaviours to manage those big feelings in a safer way.
