SEN Okay and I'm not Okay tactile communication tags  - Visual aid for Autism, Learning disabilities & Learning difficulties

These tactile tags are great for a child or young person to express how they are feeling in either familiar or unfamiliar environments, settings or situations. Young people, especially with sensory sensitivities can become overwhelmed, even if it is a situation they may be familiar with. This can be due to hunger, tiredness or uncomfortable feelings that they find difficult to fully express. Allowing the child or young person to communicate in a less pressured way by means of these tags, can promote independence, confidence and autonomy. The “voice of the child” can still be heard, even in a busy environment with a simple show of one of the discs. This can help the care giver to provide the support, validation and comfort required.

Designed in collaboration with a senior CAMHS nurse, who has 30 years experience in the fields of adult learning disability and autism, children’s learning disability, children’s mental health and crisis intervention. Therapeutic skills include dialectical behaviour therapy, (DBT) and Non-Violent resistance therapy (NVR).
